Brendon Cast As The Phantom

Posted on 30-10-2013

From outback bars and dusty old dance halls to rodeos and open-air festivals, Brendon Walmsley has performed to country crowds across the nation. Now, in a dramatic turn, the multi Golden Guitar winner will soon step onto the stage of Toowoomba's majestic Empire Theatre having been cast as "The Phantom" in Andrew Lloyd Webber's hit musical "The Phantom Of The Opera".

"Admittedly it's a fairly significant shift in music styles," said Brendon, "but for me, the connection is still all about telling a story. It's the story that draws me in, regardless of the musical style. There's no denying that The Phantom of The Opera is one of the most intriguing stories ever written."

Set far beneath the majesty and splendour of the Paris Opera House, the Phantom lives his shadowy existence. Shamed by his grotesque physical appearance he lurks in the misty catacombs beneath the Opera House, exercising a reign of terror over its occupants, but the love he holds for his beautiful protegee, innocent soprano Christine is too strong even for her to resist.

The Phantom of the Opera is a timeless story of seduction, despair and obsession as The Phantom's fixation on Christine unleashes a tale of drama, destruction and death.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's international award winning musical is the longest running show in Broadway history and will be brought to life for the first time on the Empire Theatre stage in April 2014.
