The sweet sound of second chances and an unbroken road ahead. Brendon Walmsley’s latest offering from his upcoming album takes its inspiration from the first line of the world’s most beloved hymn, ‘Amazing Grace’. Having sung this song hundreds of times, it occurred to Brendon that the song’s author, John Newton, described grace not only as ‘amazing’, but also as a ‘sweet sound’. Is it really possible to hear grace? What does it sound like?
What Brendon discovered in the stillness of listening is that the sweet sound of amazing grace is all around us. In the rush of every day, too often we don’t stop long enough to appreciate the gift of those simple sounds that give rise to life and joy. “How Sweet The Sound” is an uplifting expression of gratefulness for what we all too easily take for granted.
And speaking of sweet sounds, Rod McCormack’s production on this track is sublime – a beautiful blend of country with a twist of gospel, creating the perfect balance of space and movement with subtle, yet brilliant musicianship. The warmth and comfort of Brendon’s vocals gently guide us along the road to discovering the often overlooked precious presence of grace in our everyday lives.
In our restlessness and relentless busyness, be still and notice that sweet, sweet sound. It’ll lead you home.
