Golden Guitar winner and respected Australian singer-songwriter Brendon Walmsley is celebrating after earning 2 nominations at the upcoming CMAA Golden Guitar Awards for his new album Road to Riverleigh.
Brendon is nominated for:
• Traditional Country Album of the Year – Road to Riverleigh
• Toyota Album of the Year – Road to Riverleigh
After stepping back from the national spotlight for more than a decade, Brendon returned to the studio in 2024 with producer Rod McCormack, delivering one of the strongest bodies of work of his career.
Road to Riverleigh is a warm, thoughtful and finely crafted album built on stories of family, faith, community and resilience, echoed in songs such as How Sweet The Sound, Cooladdi, He’s Got The Whole World, and the deeply personal title track.
Brendon said the nominations feel especially meaningful after re-entering the Australian country music scene this year.
“To come back with new music after so many years and have it recognised like this is something I’m genuinely grateful for,” Brendon said.
“I’ve poured my heart into these songs, and knowing they’ve connected with people means the world.
“When I first stepped into the studio again, I wasn’t thinking about awards. I simply wanted to make honest music that reflected where I’ve been and what I’ve learned. These nominations are a wonderful surprise, and I’m humbled to be standing alongside so many artists I admire.”
From the nostalgia of Road to Riverleigh to the powerful storytelling of Cooladdi and the hope-filled reflection of How Sweet The Sound, Brendon’s return marks a significant new chapter in a career already recognised with Toyota Star Maker and three Golden Guitar Awards.
Road to Riverleigh is available now on all streaming platforms.
