2024 has seen Brendon Walmsley make a long-awaited return to the studio, recording an inspiring collection of songs with renowned producer Rod McCormack. This will be Brendon’s fourth studio album with an anticipated release in 2025.
We begin this exquisite musical journey with the lead single and title track Road To Riverleigh. It’s a beautifully nostalgic relief featuring the people whose love and influence have given a glimpse of what heaven up ahead might be like.
“We often consider heaven to be some distant destination, but there are golden moments and treasured memories along the way that remind us heaven may be closer than we think,” Brendon said.
Road To Riverleigh is the rendering of some of Brendon’s earliest memories – childhood holidays spent on his grandparents’ dairy farm in a small country community in Queensland’s Burnett region. Inspired by these simple times caught in the rush of history, slowed only by those whose love made an everlasting impression.
Brendon reflects, “’Road to Riverleigh’ is really an overflowing letter of gratitude for my experience of family, faith and grace – signposts to the notion of heaven being now, but not yet. It’s this captivating tension that keeps us moving forward.”
So keep the engine running, roll down the windows of what’s to come and feel the gentle breeze of hope along the Road to Riverleigh.
